from $8.00

100% ORGANIC

White polenta can be served as a creamy porridge, similar to grits, or it can be cooled, sliced, and prepared in various ways, such as pan-fried, grilled, or baked. It's a versatile gluten-free staple that pairs well with hearty stews, roasted meats, or vegetables, or can be used as a base for appetizers and other main dishes.

Uses for white polenta

As a creamy side dish or base

  • Serve it hot like a porridge with butter and cheese (like Parmesan).

  • Use it as a starchy base to soak up the flavors of hearty stews, such as Italian beef stew, ragu, or braised lamb shanks.

  • Top it with roasted vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, or mushrooms, or with a flavorful sauce like marinara or pesto.

  • It is also traditionally paired with fish-based dishes in the Veneto region.

As a set, sliced, and cooked form

  • Fried polenta:

Slice cooled polenta and pan-fry it for a crispy exterior and creamy interior.

  • Grilled polenta:

Grill slices of cooled polenta to create solid ridges, which can be served with toppings.

  • Baked polenta:

Layer sliced polenta with sauces (like Bolognese and bechamel) and cheese, then bake it in the oven.

  • "Polenta fries":

Cut cooled polenta into strips and fry them like potatoes.

In other dishes

  • As a substitute: Use it in place of pasta, rice, or potatoes.

  • As a binder: Use uncooked polenta in place of breadcrumbs to coat chicken or fish.

  • For baking: Use uncooked polenta as a gluten-free alternative to flour in baked goods like cakes and biscuits.

  • Pizza or flatbread: Spread the cooked polenta in a skillet or pan and use it as a base for pizza or flatbread.
